Making Your Tan Last Weeks After Vacation

Growing up as close friends of Deanna Ahigian, my family and I were some the first people to try her line Indigo Elixirs.  We tried her products before she started her business, and have been obsessed since.  Some of her products have worked their way into my daily routine, and I can't see my life without them.  Recently, Deanna reached out to collaborate and sent me new skincare to try.    Below are my favorite products for keeping your skin healthy and moisturized after a vacation in the sun.

When it comes to preserving a tan, staying moisturized is extremely important.  After a day in the sun, I like to put Solve All Salve on my burns, cuts and blemishes.  It works like magic, stopping the pain quickly and healing the problem over night.  Before flying, drink a lot of water and moisturize your skin.  I like to fly with a 32oz Nalgene bottle, and without makeup so that nothing irritates my skin.  I keep my moisturizers, like Chocolate Balm in my carry on, so I can slather them on mid-flight.  The chocolate balm doesn't dry quickly, so it keeps your skin hydrated through the longest flights.

Once you're back home and in routine, make sure that you apply moisturizer regularly, this means daily and nightly.  I like to use Whipped Love Face and Body Butter because it has great coverage and it melts into an oily consistency, making it easy to spread without using a lot of product.  I've applied it before work, and even after a full day, it remained the same consistency.

Deanna's products are more effective and outlast other moisturizers that I've tried.  They work so well that I use them in the summer and winter when my skin is most sensitive.  Unlike other companies, Indigo Elixirs' products are hand made and locally harvested in Hawaii using ingredients like bees wax and different nut oils like macadamia nuts.

The Saturday after Miami, Caitlin and I spent the morning pampering our skin.  We started with the Matcha Kalo Mask, it pulls impurities out of the skin.  I loved mixing the powdered product in my hand until it formed into a green paste and then applying it to my face.  There is an intimacy about creating the mask in your own hands and watching the consistency change.  That's one of my favorite things about Deanna's products, the connection you feel to them because of how involved they are.  Whether it's a mask that you mix in your hand, or a moisturizer that melts against your skin they require you to work.  After application, our skin tingled and the mask dried quickly.  We could feel the toxins being pulled out of our pores with every ticklish sensation on our skin.  Once the mask was completely dry, we washed it off and applied the calming Amethyst Crystal Elixir and Vanilla Mint Lip Bar.  The Amethyst Elixir uses aromatherapy and crystals to calm and center you.  To maximize the effects, apply along the hairline, temples and back of the neck.
