Travel Guide | Tulum Mexico
TO STAY |
If you're with a large bachelorette party like I was, I recommend staying at an all inclusive resort. We booked our stay at the Riu Yucatan in early March. Since we had everything included, we could eat and drink as we pleased and not have to worry about the money we were spending. Our resort was in Playa del Carmen, which was an hour drive from the airport.
If you're alone or with a significant other, I recommend the hotels in Tulum. They're more expensive, but the experience is once in a lifetime.
The first time I came to Mexico, Jordan and I stayed at Ahau Tulum with his sister and her husband. While in Tulum, we explored other hotels that are listed below.

TO EAT |
To be honest, all the food in Tulum was pretty incredible. The freshness of the ingredients was evident in appearance and taste. Below are the restaurants that I tried and loved (essentially every restaurant in Tulum).
El Pez takes the cake for some of the cutest decor I've ever seen. In addition to a great breakfast, we also had some tasty smoothies and played a game of chess.
AHAU TULUM / RAW LOVE |
We had a lot of food from Ahau Tulum and Raw Love since both were on our hotel grounds. We loved the Octopus from Ahau Tulum and everything from Raw Love. I swear I lost weight being on this trip because the food was so healthy.
A modern looking Yoga Retreat on the beach with a unique take on food. I got the burger wrapped in lettuce. Yum!
Jordan and I went here for lunch and it did not disappoint. With fresh salads and homemade drinks, this place hit the spot and got us out of the sun for a bit.
LA ZEBRA |
You can hear La Zebra from down the beach because of it's lively atmosphere. This is one of the more popular spots with a DJ and beautiful views of the beach.
Speaking of popular, while eating lunch Aerie was shooting swimwear pictures next to us.
While on the bachelorette party, we took a trip to Papaya Playa for lunch. Since I was with 13 other people, we had a plethora of food to choose from. We got the guac and chips, and mixed ceviche for the table. I ordered the Tuna Sandwich and had a delicious drink with Mezcal. After lunch, we hung out at their beach bar and ordered round after round of drinks, needless to say we were very pleased (and a liiiiittle tipsy) when we left.
This was the first place we ate in Tulum and it was my favorite. The way they combined indoor and outdoor space, like the swings at the bar really won me over, as did the tasty food.
AMAZING Italian food.
HARTWOOD |
One of the more hyped up restaurants because of the chef and the daily prepared menu. Be ready to wait in a line to reserve a spot for that evening. The atmosphere was beautiful and the food was good, but wasn't worth the hype.
GITANO |
Are you into eating outside with chandeliers hanging from trees for light? Of course you are. The beautiful jungle chic decor in addition to the delicious food makes this a must try.
